Armed conflicts continue to rage on the streets of Mexico.
Details: According to FIFA Media, Mexico’s 63-year-old president Claudia Sheinbaum stated in a phone conversation with Gianni Infantino that the authorities are currently doing everything in their power to bring the armed conflict between drug cartel militants and the national army to a swift end, so the country can successfully host the World Cup.

Infantino, for his part, assured that he fully trusts Sheinbaum and has no doubt that Mexico will be able to host the upcoming World Cup matches at the highest level:
“Today I had a great conversation with the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum. Once again, I expressed our full confidence in the host country and look forward to all the scheduled matches at the most inclusive and greatest World Cup.” - said Infantino.
At the moment, Mexico’s streets are awash in blood due to actions by the drug cartel, which is seeking revenge for the death of its leader El Mencho, who recently died in custody.
The Mexican national team is set to open the FIFA World Cup 2026 against South Africa on June 11.
