Maximum immersion! Referees use chest cameras for the first time at the Club World Cup

A landmark moment unfolded during the opening match of Group D at the Club World Cup!
Details: As previously reported, FIFA has implemented a series of new requirements and regulations for the club tournament, and today we witnessed the impact of these decisions firsthand.
In the clash between Chelsea and Los Angeles, the "Blues" broke the deadlock in the 34th minute, and the entire goal-scoring move—including the decisive strike—was captured by the referee’s chest-mounted camera.
The footage was published on FIFA’s official channels and those of the tournament sponsors. Reports indicate that similar videos will soon be integrated directly into live TV broadcasts, bringing this perspective to fans everywhere.
This innovation promises an unprecedented sense of immersion, allowing viewers to experience the match’s intensity and tempo through the eyes of the referee, while also offering deeper insight into the officials’ decisions for fans.
Alongside this breakthrough, several other measures have been announced:
- VAR monitor feeds will be broadcast live on stadium screens.
- State-of-the-art semi-automated offside technology, which works in tandem with a special sensor inside the ball, will be used for offside decisions during the tournament.
- For real-time data collection, FIFA will partner with Hawk-Eye to utilize artificial intelligence.
- Teams will submit substitution requests to referees via digital tablets, replacing traditional paper cards.
Reminder: Chelsea and Los Angeles FC are set for a spectacular shootout in the Club World Cup opener in Atlanta.
