Major League Baseball umpire Pat Hoberg has been accused of violating the league's gambling rules. During spring training, MLB launched an investigation into Hoberg's potential breach of gambling policy.

So far, there is no evidence that the umpire influenced or compromised any game he worked on. However, according to The Athletic, MLB has endorsed a punishment for Hoberg, which has not yet been disclosed.

It is reported that Hoberg intends to appeal the decision made against him. His appeal is currently under review, but the league has not provided any comments until the process is concluded.

Hoberg worked in MLB last season but has not officiated any games this year. He began his professional career in 2009 and became a full-time MLB umpire in 2017. He is regarded as one of the league's top umpires, and even officiated in the 2022 World Series between the Houston Astros and the Philadelphia Phillies.

As a reminder, we previously reported that MLB has handed a lifetime ban to a San Diego player due to betting activities.
