Just In: Ghana Reappoints Carlos Queiroz as Black Stars Head Coach Ahead of AFCON 2027 Qualifiers

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially confirmed the reappointment of Carlos Queiroz as head coach of the Black Stars ahead of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign.

The GFA announced the return of the Portuguese coach in a statement, confirming that an agreement had been reached for Queiroz to take charge of the national team for the next phase of its programme.

“GFA is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with Carlos Queiroz for his appointment as Head Coach of the @GhanaBlackstars for the next phase of the team’s programme,” the federation said.

Queiroz’s previous contract, which included leading Ghana at the recently concluded FIFA World Cup, ended a few weeks ago. However, following discussions between the coach, the GFA and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, all parties agreed to begin a new coaching mandate.

The experienced manager will now return to the Black Stars with his first assignment coming in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers.

Ghana will face Côte d’Ivoire on September 23 before taking on The Gambia four days later as the Black Stars begin their qualification campaign.
