Álex Arce Set to Leave Liga de Quito, Signs Deal With Cerro Porteño

Álex Arce's time at Liga de Quito may be coming to an end. According to Paraguayan media reports cited by Bolavip, the prolific striker has reached an agreement to join Cerro Porteño for the second half of the 2025 season. While Liga hasn’t confirmed the move, the news comes as a surprise given Arce's status as the team’s top scorer.
Liga de Quito is reportedly demanding at least $3 million for 80% of Arce’s sporting rights—a price tag that had previously discouraged interest from Brazilian clubs like Palmeiras, Corinthians, and Fluminense. However, it now appears that Cerro Porteño is making a serious push to secure his return to Paraguay.
Arce joined Liga in mid-2023 after a brief spell at Independiente Rivadavia in Argentina. He exploded in 2024, scoring 35 goals across all competitions and adding four more earlier that year in Argentina. He also helped Liga lift the 2025 Supercopa Ecuador.
If the transfer goes through, Liga will face a tough decision: bring in a new striker or rely on current forwards Michael Estrada and Alejandro Cabeza to carry the load.
