Karl Etta Eyong ruled out, David Pagou calls up his replacement for the upcoming international break

The Levante striker is suffering from a muscle injury, which has ruled him out of the Indomitable Lions’ upcoming training camp.

The Spanish club issued a statement on Monday 7 September regarding Karl Etta Eyong’s injury. The Cameroonian international was injured last Friday during a training session.

Medical examinations revealed an injury to the anterior muscle in his right leg. Whilst Levante did not specify how long Karl Etta Eyong would be out of action, Cameroon announced on Tuesday morning that the striker is expected to be sidelined for 6 to 8 weeks.

Having been called up by David Pagou, Etta Eyong will ultimately be unable to take part in Cameroon’s upcoming training camp, during which they will face the Comoros on 24 September and the Congo on 29 September as part of the first two matchdays of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He will also miss the Indomitable Lions’ friendly against Ivory Coast on 3 October in Abidjan.

To make up for this last-minute withdrawal, the Indomitable Lions’ manager has called up Ivan Cédric Bikoue Embolo. The Alanyaspor striker was on David Pagou’s reserve list.
