2027 AFCON Qualifier: Cameroon Begin Campaign With 3-1 Win Over Comoros

Cameroon opened their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign with a convincing 3-1 victory over Comoros in Garoua.

The Indomitable Lions had to wait until the 39th minute to break the deadlock, with David Ningo putting the hosts in front before the interval.

Cameroon quickly strengthened their position after the restart as Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo doubled the lead to put the hosts in control.

Comoros responded just two minutes later, with Warmed Omari pulling one back in the 51st minute and giving the visitors renewed hope of finding an equaliser.

However, Cameroon remained composed and eventually restored their two-goal advantage through Danny Namaso in the 81st minute, effectively putting the result beyond Comoros.

The victory gives Cameroon a positive start to their qualification campaign, with the Indomitable Lions now preparing for their next fixture against DR Congo on September 29.

Comoros will also be looking to bounce back when they host Namibia in their next qualifying encounter.
