Bryan Mbeumo named captain of the Indomitable Lions

In the absence of Nouhou Tolo and Devis Epassy, neither of whom have been called up for this international break, Cameroon manager David Pagou has chosen to entrust this responsibility to the Manchester United striker.

David Pagou announced his decision on Wednesday 23 September during the pre-match press conference. Mbeumo will therefore be tasked with leading his team-mates in this opening fixture of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Cameroon begin their campaign at home against the Comoros. The Indomitable Lions face the Coelacanths this Thursday, 24 September, at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua.

For this opening fixture, Bryan Mbeumo will therefore make his debut in his new role as captain under David Pagou. The Cameroonian striker will be tasked with guiding his team-mates through this first stage of their quest to qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

Following this first matchday in Garoua, the Indomitable Lions will travel to Brazzaville to face the Congo Red Devils. They will also play an international friendly against Côte d’Ivoire on 3 October in Abidjan.
