2027 AFCON Qualifiers: David Pagou warns the Indomitable Lions ahead of the match against the Comoros

Cameroon are set to kick off their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign this Thursday.

The Indomitable Lions host the Comoros on 24 September at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua, in their opening match. But ahead of tonight’s clash, David Pagou has acknowledged the strengths of the Coelacanths and urged his players to prepare thoroughly for this opening fixture.

The Indomitable Lions’ manager emphasised the need for his team to remain focused on their own game.

“The Comoros are a great side. We saw them at the Africa Cup of Nations. We must prepare well to take them on. We’ll adapt to whatever the Comoros throw at us tomorrow. However, this is our first match at home with a revamped squad. Our policy is to focus on ourselves.”

The Cameroonian tactician also explained his selection choices for this international break.

“We know the players we’ve called up. We’ve been keeping tabs on them since last season. So we’re sticking to our plan. A lack of match practice doesn’t rule a player out of the squad because, you know, when you know a player, you know what potential he has.”

The match will kick off at 7 pm GMT. After Garoua, the Indomitable Lions will travel to Brazzaville to face the Congo Red Devils on matchday two.
