Kaizer Chiefs missed out on a quarterfinal place in the Caf Confederation Cup after losing 2-1 to Zamalek in Egypt.

Amakhosi failed to make it to the last eight as they were unable to get positive result in North African earlier this evening even though they entered this game on top of Group C.

Chiefs did not look a team with purpose and desire to be in the continental competition’s tournament at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Egypt.

It was not surprising when the home team drew first blood via Juan Alvina’s header to beat Brandon Peterson in Chiefs’ goal. Abdallah El Said’scored the second goal while Glody Lilepo scored for Chiefs with a header from a corner kick.

The 2-0 win of Al Masry against Zesco United meant Chiefs finish in the third place on goal difference as Al Masry are also on 10 points like Chiefs.

Chiefs now have the Betway Premiership trophy to gun for as they are also out of the Nedbank Cup in this campaign.
