Kaizer Chiefs coach Ben Youssef Khalid on Mduduzi Shabalala's dip in form: He is a good player who makes right decisions
Mduduzi Shabalala has a backer in his coach at Kaizer Chiefs.
The midfielder has been under severe pressure to deliver as he has been missing clear cut chances in both Chiefs’ matches against Stellenbosch FC, a week ago today and on weekend against Al Masry.
Shabalala has faced a backlash from the club’s legends and football pundits for his failure to score when opportunities present themselves.
His coach Ben Youssef Khalid has put his full support for Shabalala in the current situation the player finds himself in.
"I think, when you are in a situation 1v1, also we have to say congratulations to the keeper of the opponent team," Ben Youssef told journalists.
"Shabalala did his job. He made the right decisions. But, great performance from the goalkeeper.
"For Pule Mmodi, he got also two opportunities to score. He was unlucky. I think, it’s a clear penalty, the second one. I don’t know, I have to check again the game.
"But, what we can do, we have to continue to work. We have to continue to work, specific work, with our analysts to see again the different situation."
This weekend, Shabalala must bring his correct boots to Egypt as Chiefs travel to North Africa for a monumental clash against Zamalek as they hope to win which will seal their place in the Caf Confederation Cup knockout stages.
