Luka Modrić has commented on his move from Real Madrid to AC Milan, admitting that the decision was anything but easy.
Details: Speaking on the (Ne)Uspeh prvaka podcast, Croatian veteran Luka Modrić emphasized just how difficult it was to leave the club where he spent a major part of his life.
"Honestly, it was far from easy, because I spent 13 years in one club and one city—almost half my life," Modrić admitted.
He noted that his time in Madrid was one of the best periods of his life:
“It was one of the most beautiful chapters of my life. I arrived in Madrid relatively late, at 27, but at exactly the right moment. I was ready for that step.”
Modrić also highlighted that his four years in England helped prepare him for the move:
“Those four years in England helped me a lot. Everything I experienced and achieved in Madrid still feels unreal to me.”
The Croatian midfielder added that joining Milan was the perfect scenario for him, as he had adored the club since childhood.
“Especially because I love Milan, and I grew up watching Italian football. Milan was the club I loved most as a kid. When the chance came up to join them, it just felt right.”
In the summer of 2025, Luka made the switch from Real Madrid to AC Milan. Since then, he has featured in thirteen matches for Milan across all competitions, scoring once and providing two assists.
Reminder: Juventus has entered the race to sign Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
