On July 12, the men's singles final of Wimbledon 2026 took place. Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev battled it out across four sets to determine the champion.
In the opening two sets, both players were rock-solid on serve, each taking a tiebreak to even the score. But in the following two sets, a single break in each was all Sinner needed to secure his second straight Wimbledon crown.
This victory marks Sinner's 100th win in Grand Slam singles matches. In the Open Era, he becomes the seventh youngest male player to reach this milestone. Only Bjorn Borg, Boris Becker, Mats Wilander, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Pete Sampras achieved the feat at a younger age.
Moreover, Sinner continues to shine as the world number one. Since the ATP rankings were introduced in 1973, only Roger Federer has captured more men's singles Grand Slam titles after his first eight Majors as world No. 1. The Swiss legend tallied five in that span, while Sinner now has four, drawing level with Rafael Nadal. This achievement cements the Italian's place among the sport's modern greats.
