Iceland national team forward Gudmundsson found not guilty of sexual assault

Fiorentina forward Albert Gudmundsson has been found not guilty in a case involving alleged sexual harassment.
Details: The Icelandic striker was acquitted today by a court in Reykjavik regarding the harassment allegations. Gudmundsson confirmed the final verdict via an Instagram Story.
Quote: “It has been a tough year, and it hasn’t been easy to cope with this mentally. But I learned that family and friends did everything for me, and I will be forever grateful to them. Finally, I want to express that I will never condone any form of violence. As a father of two children, including a young daughter, and having three younger sisters, I sincerely hope that this case does not harm other women who are genuinely victims of violence.
Now I can move on with my life and focus on what I do best,” wrote the striker.
Reminder: The incident in question occurred during the summer of 2023 at a nightclub in Iceland's capital. The case had already been dismissed once, but the accuser filed an appeal to continue the proceedings, seeking 3 million Icelandic krónur in damages.
As a result, the Iceland national team excluded the forward from the squad for several matches. The 27-year-old has played 37 times for the Iceland national team, scoring 10 goals.
