Morata could be preparing for one of the most unexpected moves of his long career.
Details: According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, Álvaro Morata is on the verge of joining Spanish second-division side Leganes on loan from Como. The surprise move is already at an advanced stage, with the parties now working through the remaining details before receiving final approval.
If the operation is completed, the 33-year-old striker will leave Serie A for Spain's Segunda Division, where Leganes are competing in the 2026/27 season. The Madrid-based club have started the campaign with four points from their opening two league matches.
For Morata, the move would mean another return to Spanish football after a career that has already taken him through some of Europe's biggest clubs and several different championships. This time, however, the experienced forward would be taking on a completely different challenge in the country's second tier.
The transfer has not yet been officially completed, as the final details and approval are still pending. It is worth noting that Morata made 26 Serie A appearances for Como last season. Transfermarkt currently estimates the Spanish striker's market value at €6 million.
