Chelsea continue to hunt for Europe’s brightest young talents.

Details: According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are now advancing in club-to-club negotiations with Atalanta over a potential transfer of 18-year-old defender Honest Ahanor. The London club have already reached an agreement with the player on personal terms, while talks between the clubs are moving forward.

Chelsea and Atalanta already have a good working relationship after completing a deal involving Marco Palestra earlier this summer. That connection could now help the Blues in negotiations for another highly rated talent from Bergamo.

Romano reports that Chelsea are considering the potential future pathway for Ahanor rather than viewing the teenager exclusively as an immediate first-team reinforcement. Atalanta sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli had earlier confirmed that the Italian club would evaluate any proposals received for the defender.

Ahanor joined Atalanta from Genoa in July 2025 and has quickly established himself as one of the most valuable young defenders in Italian football. The left-footed player can operate both at centre-back and on the left side of defence.

It is worth noting that Ahanor was born on February 23, 2008 and is currently 18 years old. According to Transfermarkt, his market value stands at €30 million, while his contract with Atalanta runs until June 2028.
