Huracán secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Central Córdoba in a heated match full of controversial decisions, climbing to second place in Group A of the 2025 Apertura tournament. The game, played at Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades in Santiago del Estero, featured multiple VAR interventions and contentious calls by referee Luis Lobo Medina, according to TyC Sports.
Walter Mazzantti opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, with his goal being awarded only after a VAR review overturned an offside call. Central Córdoba responded just before halftime with a penalty converted by Leonardo Heredia after another VAR decision punished a handball by Pellegrino.
The second half was marked by mounting tension. Huracán felt wronged by a missed penalty on Ibáñez, which was not awarded despite clear contact and VAR confirmation. In the 84th minute, Matko Miljevic unleashed a shot that was illegally blocked by Jonathan Galván, resulting in a red card and a penalty. Miljevic stepped up and converted to restore Huracán’s lead.
Late in the game, Miljevic had another goal disallowed for a questionable offside involving Ramón Ábila and was denied a second penalty after contact in the box. Despite the officiating drama, Huracán held on to the lead and now sits just three points behind Boca with 26. Central Córdoba remains eighth in the group with 18 points, slipping to 13th in the overall table.
