Thierry Henry has spoken out about one of the most controversial moments in the Germany vs Paraguay match at the 2026 World Cup.
Details: The legendary Frenchman harshly criticized the referees’ decision to disallow Germany’s goal after a VAR review. The incident occurred in extra time, when the Germans had a chance to take the lead.

According to Henry, the officials made a mistake by not awarding the goal to Germany. He believes Paraguay’s goalkeeper misjudged the cross and failed to reach the aerial challenge.
“Listen, that was a bad decision. An absolutely insane decision. It was a clean header. He attacked the ball, beat his opponent to it, and put it in the net. For me, that’s a perfectly good goal,” Henry said.
Ultimately, Jonathan Tah’s goal in the 102nd minute was overturned after VAR review. The referees ruled that Waldemar Anton impeded the goalkeeper by holding him inside the box.
Reminder: Germany crashed out of the 2026 World Cup in the round of 16, losing to Paraguay in a penalty shootout — 3:4.
