From Raw Talent to Premier League Striker: Jackson Salutes Emery’s Influence

Nicolas Jackson, a striker from Senegal, has praised Unai Emery, his former coach at Villarreal and current manager of Aston Villa, saying the Spanish strategist changed his game and career.
In an interview with Sky Sports, the 23-year-old Chelsea forward described Emery not just as a coach, but as a mentor and educator who helped shape him into a more complete footballer.
“Unai Emery taught me a lot in football. He taught me everything, When I arrived from Senegal, I knew how to play, but I didn’t understand how to run on the field. I was running like crazy, grabbing the ball, dribbling, creating my own moves. I think he changed everything and made me a different player” Jackson said.
Emery’s Lasting Influence
Jackson rose to prominence under Emery at Villarreal, where his raw talent was honed into a more disciplined and tactical approach. Today, the forward continues to benefit from that foundation at Chelsea, where he has featured in 29 matches this season across all competitions, scoring 9 goals and providing 5 assists.
Currently, he ranks as the second top scorer for the Blues, just behind Cole Palmer, who has found the net 14 times.
