Foden laments lack of rest ahead of Club World Cup

This summer is shaping up to be a real grind for footballers. After an intense club season, they’ll play two matches for their national teams, and then some of them will have to head straight to the Club World Cup. Manchester City forward Phil Foden is among those voicing concerns over the demanding schedule.
Details: The English striker admitted he would like some time off before the Club World Cup, citing the mentally taxing nature of his current club campaign.
Quote: "I just need a few weeks off without football, but right now I can’t get that. It’s a bit frustrating to play through all these knocks. Obviously, it’s tough because the guys are mentally drained after this season.
I believe everyone needs some recovery time. We need to discuss this with the club and the national team to see if maybe it’s better to take a break and get my ankle back to 100%," Foden told British media.
Reminder: Earlier, FIFA introduced an extra transfer window for Club World Cup participants.
