FIFA Orders Emelec to Compensate Hernán Torres for Unpaid Wages

FIFA has ruled in favor of Colombian coach Hernán Torres in a contractual dispute with Ecuadorian club Emelec, ordering the club to pay $40,000 in unpaid wages and a $12,500 fine to the governing body. The decision was reported on Monday by journalist César Luis Merlo and confirmed by Futbolred.
Torres, who joined Emelec in June 2023 and departed less than a year later to manage Deportivo Cali, filed the complaint over three months of unpaid salary and a performance-related bonus. The coach cited both sporting and financial issues as reasons for his premature exit.
The ruling gives Emelec 45 days to comply with the payment. Failure to do so could result in a transfer ban for three consecutive windows, as stipulated by FIFA's disciplinary regulations.
Hernán Torres, a seasoned manager known for his stints with clubs across Colombia and Latin America, is currently without a team after parting ways with Deportivo Cali in September 2024. While he has yet to be linked with a new position, his reputation remains intact, making him a viable option for clubs seeking experienced leadership.
