Egypt U-17 Coach Vows to Fight On After Heavy Loss to Morocco
Egypt's U-17 national team coach, Ahmed El-Kass, was very upset after losing 1-5 to Morocco in the first game of the North African qualifiers for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations. El-Kass said he was responsible for the loss, explaining, "In soccer, sometimes things don’t work out, and today the team wasn’t playing its best. I take full responsibility for the result."
Even though they lost, El-Kass praised Morocco for their win and said Egypt would keep trying to qualify. "We won’t quit. We’ll keep fighting in the other games to make it to the big tournament," he said.
The qualifiers are happening in Morocco from November 11 to 23, with teams from Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, and Morocco competing. Egypt’s next game is against Algeria on Thursday, then they’ll play Tunisia on November 20 and Libya on November 23. Morocco is currently in first place with three points, ahead of Tunisia because of goal difference after their 1-0 win over Algeria.
