Disaster. Immediately two goalkeepers of the Portuguese club were seriously injured at the training
The season in the Portuguese Primeira Liga has just begun, but Boavista finds itself in a predicament no club would ever want to face.
Details: During a recent training session, both of Boavista’s goalkeepers, João Gonçalves and Luís Pires, suffered serious injuries. Gonçalves is the team's starting goalkeeper, while Pires serves as his backup.
After medical evaluations, both keepers were diagnosed with cruciate ligament tears, likely ruling them out for the rest of the season.
As a result, the only fit goalkeeper left in the squad is 17-year-old academy product Tomé Sousa. In an emergency move, Boavista had to sign a contract with 32-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper César Dutra, who had been the club’s backup for the past two seasons but became a free agent after his contract expired.
Reminder: Porto recently accused Al-Ittihad of sabotaging the transfer of winger Wanderson Galeno.
Boavista has earned 4 points from their first 4 matches of the season.
