Ismael Saibari's first appearance in a Bayern Munich shirt has been put on hold after the Moroccan midfielder was omitted from the club's squad for its pre-season tour of Asia.

The summer signing, who arrived from PSV Eindhoven in a deal worth around €55 million, has not travelled with the Bundesliga champions as the coaching staff continues to carefully manage his fitness ahead of the new season.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Saibari remains in Munich, where he is working through a personalised training programme instead of joining the rest of the squad overseas.

The midfielder is not the only Bayern player staying behind. The report also states that Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala, and young talent Lennart Karl are all following separate fitness programmes in Germany as they continue their recovery and conditioning work.

Although supporters will not get the chance to see him during the Asia tour, the wait may not be much longer.

If his rehabilitation progresses as expected, Saibari could make his first Bayern appearance in the club's pre-season friendly against RB Leipzig on August 15
