Nayef Aguerd Closing in on Al Sadd Move as Marseille Near €15 Million Agreement
Morocco international Nayef Aguerd is reportedly on the verge of leaving Olympique de Marseille, with Qatari giants Al Sadd advancing in negotiations to secure the experienced defender before the close of the transfer window.
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, discussions between the two clubs have progressed significantly, with Marseille and Al Sadd now close to reaching a full agreement over the transfer.
The proposed deal is expected to be structured as an initial loan move worth around €4 million, followed by an obligatory purchase clause of €11 million, bringing the total value of the transfer to approximately €15 million.
While negotiations between the clubs are nearing completion, Al Sadd must still finalise personal terms with the 30-year-old defender before the move can be officially completed.
Aguerd joined Marseille only last year, but the French club are now prepared to sanction his departure as they continue reshaping the squad ahead of the new campaign.
The Ligue 1 side are understood to be looking to generate transfer income and reduce their wage bill, with Aguerd among a number of first-team players who could leave before the transfer window closes.
