The world number three, Carlos Alcaraz, has successfully advanced to the second round of Wimbledon 2024 as expected.

In the first-round match, the Spanish tennis player defeated Estonia's Mark Lajal, who is ranked only 269th in the ATP rankings, in three sets. For the 21-year-old Estonian, this was his first career match at a Grand Slam tournament. However, the victory did not come easily for Alcaraz.

In the first set, Lajal managed to put up a fight and pushed Alcaraz to a tiebreak, where the Spaniard won 7-3. In the second set, Lajal was again close to forcing a tiebreak, but Alcaraz made a crucial break and won 7-5.

In the third set, Lajal ran out of energy, and Alcaraz won it 6-2.

In the second round, Alcaraz will face the winner of the match between Australia's Aleksandar Vukic and Austria's Sebastian Ofner.

It is worth noting that Alcaraz is the defending Wimbledon champion.
