Arsenal prepare a "round" sum offer for Italy national team defender

Arsenal is preparing an offer for Bologna and Italy national team defender Riccardo Calafiori.

It is noted that the head coach of the "Gunners," Mikel Arteta, has approved the Italian defender. Calafiori is one of three defenders on the Spanish coach's shortlist.

Additionally, Arsenal has good relations with Bologna following the deal to purchase Takehiro Tomiyasu.

It is expected that Arsenal will offer around €50 million for the defender. However, an official offer has not yet been made.

Calafiori had previously agreed to a move to Juventus, but Bologna prefers to sell their players abroad.

The 22-year-old defender returned to Italy from Basel last summer for just €4 million. His current transfer value is estimated at €30 million. Calafiori is a product of Roma's football academy.

In June, the tall defender debuted for the Italy national team and played three matches for the Azzurri at Euro 2024.

It was previously reported that Chelsea would also compete with Arsenal for the player's signature.
