Corinthians Push to Lift Fan Group Ban After Paulistão Final Incidents

Corinthians have begun quiet efforts to reduce the ban imposed on their organized supporter groups following the violent scenes at the Paulistão final. As Globo reports, club legal consultant Leonardo Pantaleão met with São Paulo Football Federation vice-president Mauro Silva and attorney Nilo Patrussi to discuss potential legal avenues for softening the sanctions.
In April, the state prosecutor’s office enforced a ban on members of groups such as Gaviões da Fiel and Camisa 12, preventing them from attending matches until December. The ban includes any clothing, flags, or musical instruments associated with these groups and was implemented after crowd disturbances at the state championship.
Internally, Corinthians believe the absence of these groups has dampened the atmosphere on matchdays and impacted the squad’s morale. Pantaleão is now also working with law enforcement in other states to ensure safe logistics for traveling fans, especially ahead of matches against Ceará in Fortaleza (July 16) and Botafogo in Rio (July 27).
Supporter groups remain present around the club. In June, they protested at Corinthians’ headquarters, demanding statutory reforms and accountability from the board over financial mismanagement. The club now seeks to reconcile legal compliance with restoring the energy its supporters bring to the stands.
