At the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, Kenya, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) formally held the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) draw. Due to delays in infrastructure, the tournament was rescheduled from February to August 2025. Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya will co-host.

Key Highlights of the Draw
Group A:
A “group of death” featuring two-time champions DR Congo and Morocco, alongside host nation Kenya, Angola, and Zambia. This team promises great football and fierce rivalry.
Group B:
Hosts Tanzania face Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic. This group is balanced but unpredictable, with several teams making surprise qualifications.
Group C:
Hosts Uganda will compete against Niger, Guinea, and two yet-to-be-determined qualifiers (Q1 and Q2) from the second qualifying tournament.
Group D:
Defending champions Senegal face a tough challenge against Nigeria, Sudan, and Congo in the only group with four teams.
Upcoming Qualifiers
Two spots remain open (Q1 and Q2) and will be decided in a second qualifying tournament involving Algeria, Egypt, Gabon, Comoros, Gambia, Malawi, and South Africa.
CAF has also upped the tournament's prize money, incentivizing clubs to do their best.
