Carlos Tevez will take over as head coach of Talleres de Córdoba following the sudden resignation of Diego Cocca, who stepped down on Tuesday morning without managing a single game. According to Buenos Aires-based media outlets, tension with club president Andrés Fassi reportedly led to Cocca’s early departure.
Talleres moved quickly and announced Tevez’s arrival via social media, adding that the former Argentina striker will be formally introduced on Wednesday, July 9. The board hopes he can lead the team as early as Friday, when they host San Lorenzo in the opening round of the Torneo Clausura at the Mario Alberto Kempes stadium.
Tevez previously coached Rosario Central and Independiente and now returns to the bench in a high-pressure situation. Talleres faces relegation concerns and needs immediate results. Nevertheless, club officials expressed confidence, saying they believe Tevez is “the right man to restore Talleres as a leading force.”
