The Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) issued a firm response on Wednesday to Tenfield’s claims, confirming it seeks $45 million for the 2026–2029 broadcasting rights cycle. The figure is significantly higher than Tenfield’s formal proposal of $25 million per year, which the AUF says included terms that violated its statutes and could negatively impact club revenues.
According to the AUF, multiple meetings with Tenfield took place between April and June. A verbal offer was submitted and ratified in writing on June 25, but it was ultimately rejected unanimously on July 2 by the Executive Committee. On July 3, Tenfield asked for the AUF’s target price, which was set at $45 million.
With the negotiation window expiring on July 4 at midnight, the AUF has now opted to open a public bidding process. The current contract with Tenfield runs through December 31. Notably, the next contract will exclude the matching clause, meaning Tenfield will have to compete on equal footing with other bidders.
A market study commissioned by the AUF supports the $45 million valuation, and the organization reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and ensuring that broadcasting revenue directly supports all levels of Uruguayan football.
