Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli continues to rewrite Formula 1 history. The Italian racer claimed victory at the Monaco Grand Prix, becoming the first Italian to win the iconic race in the principality since Jarno Trulli in 2004.
Antonelli’s triumph at the Monaco Grand Prix brought him another remarkable achievement. The Italian became the youngest winner in the history of the legendary race. At just 19 years old, the Mercedes driver shattered the previous record held by Lewis Hamilton, who took victory in Monaco at age 23.
This Monte Carlo success marked the 19-year-old’s fifth consecutive win of the current season. Previously, Antonelli triumphed at the rounds in China, Japan, Miami, and Canada. With this achievement, the young driver matched Lewis Hamilton’s record for most consecutive wins behind the wheel of a Mercedes.
On the streets of Monaco, Antonelli once again showcased mature and flawless driving, leaving his rivals with no chance in the battle for first place. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton finished second, while Isack Hadjar rounded out the podium.
Despite this impressive streak, the all-time Mercedes record for consecutive wins still belongs to Nico Rosberg. The German driver won seven races in a row during the 2015-2016 seasons.
