Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski continues to rewrite the record books of European football.
Details: In the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 against Newcastle, the Polish forward netted a brace and, according to Squawka, became the oldest player in the tournament’s history to score twice in a single match.
At 37 years and 209 days old, Lewandowski surpassed the previous record set by Italian legend Filippo Inzaghi.
What’s more, Robert now holds the title of oldest scorer ever in the Champions League knockout stages. His physical condition and predatory instinct in front of goal at this age continue to astound experts around the globe.
Later, the Catalans found the net again, and by the 73rd minute, the score stood at 7-2 in favor of the Blaugrana.
Reminder: Marc Bernal became Barcelona’s third-youngest goalscorer in Champions League playoff history.
