Porto vs Inter predictions and betting tips on March 14, 2023
On March 14, Estádio do Dragão (Porto) will host the second leg of the 1/8 finals of the Champions League, in which Porto will compete with Inter. The battle will start at 21:00 CET.
The team has got an interesting feature. It won the Primeira gold medals three times in a row strictly in even years – before the success in the previous draw, there had been won the titles in 2018 and 2020. Nowadays, this trend is demonstrating its unpleasant side: speaking about the period between the higher mentioned achievements, the 1st place was given to the representatives of Lisbon. The same story is typical for the current tournament – Benfica is dominating at the inner arena of Portugal. It goes without saying that the team can still win the Taça de Portugal – “the Dragons” are already the semi-finalists (and they will play at this stage with modest Famalicao), but the distance in the Primeira is too significant. There remains only to try to do its best in the Champions League. There, Sergio Conceição’s wards completed the group stage, where experienced opponents (Bayer and Atlético) played, at the 1st place. Still, the team could not reach an honourable and strategically advantageous draw in Milan. Nevertheless, a minimal defeat in the away match leaves real chances for a home result, which is necessary for overall success.
The club is now embroiled in a serious fight within the Serie A. So far, the only thing is clear: Napoli will finally become the champion with a 99 per cent probability. Only it can give someone the Scudetto. All other ambitious clubs are struggling for a place in the Champions League zone, that is, no lower than the 4th one. The number of applicants is more than the number of positions in the remaining trio, and even Juventus, perhaps, cannot be dismissed. It is obvious that “the Nerazzurri” will have been involved into the higher mentioned battle with rivals until the last round, that means until May. At the same time, the club managed to overcome Barcelona in the autumn in the Champions League – it won the dispute for the second place and the right to play in the play-offs. To be honest, that success can be levelled if the team does not succeed now. It was very close to 0-0 draw in the home match; fortunately, Lukaku appeared in the right place in the 86th minute of the game and finished off the ball into the goal.
The statistics of head-to-head matches
The clubs have met each other in two seasons before – both times in 2005. First, Inter went further (a draw and a win) in the spring, then, they exchanged victories at the group stage.
Bookmakers consider the opponents to be equal. The Italian grandee will play pragmatically on defence, catching the opponent by means of the counterattacks – thus, we bet on its victory with “a 0 goal handicap” (odd: 1.88).
