England, Manchester, Etihad Stadium

After two rounds of the new Premier League season, Manchester City look exactly as their fans would expect: two wins, six points and an impressive goal difference. Coventry, meanwhile, have returned to the English top flight for the first time in more than 20 years but are yet to pick up a single point. Now the newly promoted side face what is arguably their toughest away trip of the opening stages of the campaign.

It has been a special season for City even before the opening round. Enzo Maresca took charge of the team, replacing Pep Guardiola, so supporters have been watching closely to see how quickly the Italian can reshape one of the Premier League's leading title contenders.

The start has not been straightforward, but it has certainly been revealing. In the opening round, City were trailing Bournemouth 1-0 at home following a Marcus Tavernier goal, but turned the match around late on. Marc Guéhi equalised in the 84th minute before Joško Gvardiol scored the winner in stoppage time. Ryan Cherki was particularly impressive, with the Frenchman coming off the bench to provide two assists.

Maresca's side looked far more convincing in the second round. City thrashed Crystal Palace 4-1 away from home, with Erling Haaland and Ryan Cherki scoring twice each. The Norwegian striker opened the scoring before completing his brace late in the match. Cherki also got on the scoresheet twice and is already emerging as one of the standout performers in the early matches of the new-look City side.

The mood is completely different at Coventry. Frank Lampard's team began their return to the Premier League with a heavy 3-0 defeat to Arsenal. However, the real blow came on 29 August, when the Sky Blues lost 1-0 at home to fellow Premier League newcomers Hull. Liam Millar scored the decisive goal in the 82nd minute. Coventry created plenty of chances, but their finishing once again let them down.

As a result, Coventry head into Matchday 3 with zero points and without a single goal scored. And the fixture list is hardly doing them any favours: after Arsenal and Hull, they now travel to the Etihad. For Lampard, it is an excellent opportunity to test his players' character, but in terms of getting a result, the task looks almost impossible.

City, meanwhile, will be determined not to repeat the script from their match against Bournemouth. Maresca's side secured three important points in their opening game, followed that up with a convincing victory over Palace and now return home to face opponents who are yet to score this season.

The main question is how long Coventry can withstand the pressure.

If the visitors can remain compact in defence and survive the early onslaught, they may have a chance to stay in the contest. But if Haaland, Cherki and company score within the first 20 to 30 minutes, the match could easily turn into a rout.

Overall, it is difficult to imagine a surprise scenario here. Manchester City are the clear favourites, not only because of the difference in quality but also due to their current form. Maresca's side have already collected six points and scored six goals in two rounds, while Coventry remain without a point or a goal.

My prediction: Manchester City to win and over 3.5 goals.
