Zamalek Fights Back After Super Cup Sanctions

Zamalek SC has announced plans to formally appeal recent penalties imposed on three of its players by the Egyptian Football Association following altercations in the Egyptian Super Cup against Pyramids FC in the UAE.
The association suspended Zamalek’s team manager Abdel Wahid El-Sayed and players Mostafa Shalaby and Nabil Emad Dunga for four matches and fined them EGP 20,000 each. According to a club source stated that Zamalek considers the sanctions excessive and intends to challenge them through official channels.
The club hopes to negotiate a reduction in penalties, considering the context and actions of the players. The trio was accused of assaulting a security official at Al Nahyan Stadium, resulting in a one-month prison sentence in the UAE. However, they were granted a pardon by UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed before serving time.
