Yassir Zabiri, Abdellah Ouazane and the new faces in Mohamed Ouahbi’s squad for the international break

The Atlas Lions’ manager unveiled on Thursday the squad selected for the first two matchdays of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and the international friendly against Ghana.

Among the 29 Atlas Lions called up by Mohamed Ouahbi, several are making their very first international call-up. Yassir Zabiri is one of the new faces on the Morocco manager’s squad list.

The 21-year-old centre-forward has made an impressive start to the season with Racing Santander in the Spanish La Liga. Yassir Zabiri has scored six goals in six league matches for his club. This outstanding performance has been rewarded with his first call-up to the Atlas Lions.

Other players have also been called up for the first time by Mohamed Ouahbi. They include goalkeeper Alaa Belaarouch, who is on loan this season at Dinamo Bucharest; Schalke 04 midfielder Soufiane El Faouzi; Ajax midfielder Abdellah Ouazane; and Anderlecht right-back Ali Maamar.
