South African Referee Abongile Tom to Officiate Morocco-Gabon AFCON Qualifier

South African referee Abongile Tom has been appointed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to officiate Morocco’s opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Gabon.

The match will take place on Friday, September 25, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, where Morocco will kick off its continental qualifying campaign against Gabon. The match kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. GMT, which is 8:00 p.m. local time in Morocco.

The CAF appointment means the South African official will be at the centre of proceedings when the two nations meet in Rabat.
