Why Santiago Giménez Could Leave AC Milan Just Months After Arriving

Santiago Giménez's adventure at AC Milan may be short-lived. Despite signing a long-term contract and showing flashes of quality since arriving, the Mexican striker is now weighing his options due to a changing landscape within the club. According to Italian journalist Nicolò Schira, Giménez's camp is concerned about his diminishing chances of playing time.
The appointment of Massimiliano Allegri brought optimism to Milan, but for Giménez, it added a layer of doubt. Allegri's overhaul includes a search for elite strikers, potentially pushing the 23-year-old down the pecking order. With no European competitions in 2025–26, opportunities could become even scarcer for a player still trying to establish himself in Serie A.
Reports suggest that Milan is eyeing forwards like Dusan Vlahovic, Darwin Núñez, Mateo Retegui, and even veteran Ciro Immobile. If any of these names arrive, Giménez could be relegated to a backup role—something his camp is reportedly not comfortable with.
Despite scoring 6 goals and providing 3 assists in just under 900 minutes across 19 matches, Giménez is unsure whether Milan will offer the platform he needs to grow. While he remains under contract until June 2029, the Mexican's future might hinge on whether Allegri sees him as a key piece or simply a luxury substitute. For now, the uncertainty surrounding his role is real—and his next move could come sooner than expected.
