Washington Arubi describes Oswin Appollis 'clever' after he beat him via the penalty in their Africa Cup of Nations clash as Bafana Bafana won 3-2
Washington Arubi has called Oswin Appollis an intelligent player.
When Bafana Bafana won a penalty yesterday in their final Africa Cup of Nations Group B match, Appollis stepped in to take the spot-kick.
Arubi plies his trade in South Africa’s PSL and there likelihood he would save Appollis’ spot-kick.
That expectation was made by the fact that Arubi would have known how Appollis takes the 12-yard kick having also played with him at SuperSport United.
But the nippy midfielder was able to send the Warriors goalkeeper the wrong way to clinch the three points for Bafana and also seal a spot in the last-16 of the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.
“He was a bit clever because I know him. He doesn’t usually put the ball there because I think he changed in the last seconds,” Arubi said after the match, as per SoccerBeat.
“He was also clever and it was good to him but next time I will get him. We still have a fight."
