WAFCON 2026: “We’re up against one of Africa’s best teams,” Dimitri Lipoff praises the Black Queens ahead of the Cameroon - Ghana match

The Indomitable Lionesses’ coordinator said he is familiar with the Ghanaian squad and expects a tough encounter.

Cameroon face Ghana on Sunday 2 August in their second Group D match at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which is taking place in Morocco. However, at a pre-match press conference, Dimitri Lipoff, coordinator of the Cameroon women’s national team, expressed his respect for Ghana.

The French coach believes the Black Queens are among the best teams in Africa and expects a very tough match.

“We’re up against a team I know very well for several reasons. Firstly, it’s a team made up of top players who play all over the world. When you know women’s football as well as I do, and you’ve been involved in recruitment in women’s football for several years, you’re bound to know all these players, because they’ve come to my attention on several occasions. So I know them very well. We’re facing one of the best teams in Africa, and we’re preparing for this match with that in mind. ”

It should be noted that Cameroon and Ghana both won their Group D matches on the opening day. The Indomitable Lionesses beat Mali 2–1, whilst Ghana defeated Cape Verde 2–0.
