WAFCON 2026: Cameroon beat Ghana

The Indomitable Lionesses have secured their second win in two matches and have booked their place in the knockout stages.

Cameroon’s women’s national team are enjoying a successful campaign at the Women’s Africa Cup officiellement Nations, which is being held in Morocco. Having beaten Mali 2-1 on the opening day, the Cameroonian women secured a second victory on Sunday 2 August during the second round of matches.

The Indomitable Lionesses, who were up against Ghana, sealed the win this afternoon at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca. The Cameroonian side took the lead in the first half.

Marie Gisele Ngah Manga opened the scoring from the penalty spot. The two teams went into the break with Cameroon holding this lead.

In the second half, Ghana thought they had equalised, but the Black Queens’ goal was ruled out for offside. Valentine Nguele’s side therefore held onto their lead until the final whistle.

Cameroon now have 6 points and have secured their place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
