US national team lost to Uruguay and will not play in the Copa America play-offs

On the night of 2 July, the final matches of the group stage of the Copa América in Group C took place. The tournament hosts USA played against Uruguay, and Bolivia's opponent was Panama.

By the match of the third round Gregg Berhalter's wards approached the second place, but to keep it - it was necessary to score more points for Panama, which held a parallel match with Bolivia.

But, with two shots on goal in the whole match, it was quite difficult to do it. In the end, the Uruguayans took control of things on the pitch and midway through the second half scored the only goal of the match, which gave them a 100% result in the group - three wins in three matches.

The match with the outsider of the group was very difficult for Thomas Christiansen's wards. Panama scored a quick goal in the middle of the first half, but the Bolivians were able to respond in the middle of the second half.

But, manager "canaleros" guessed with substitutions and goals by Eduardo Guerrero and Cesar Janis, who came off the bench, allowed to press the opponent and win. Thus, it will be Uruguay and Panama who will represent Group C in the Copa América play-offs.

The opponents of these teams will be determined on the night of 3 June, because that is when the matches in quartet D will take place. Uruguay or Panama will definitely play Colombia, which has guaranteed itself a place in the quarter-finals. The second place in the play-offs will be between Brazil and Costa Rica.
