Unhappy! Hugo Broos is not a happy man despite Bafana Bafana winning 1-0 against Ghana in a friendly international ahead of Afcon next week
Hugo Broos admitted he is happy with Bafana Bafana’s 1-0 win over Ghana but the team’s overall performance was not as pleasing.
Broos said his team need to be sharper to make an impression at the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations which kicks off on weekend.
“I’m happy with the result that we won the game, but I think we can play much better than today,” he said on SABC 2 after the friendly international against the Black Stars today.
“We didn’t really play a very good game, there was not so much movement in the team what we are used to, the passing was not good.
“So we still need a little bit work to be on the highest level for next week.”
Broos noticed that players may have not given their all in this game at Dobsonville Stadium as they suffer injury few days before the continental spectacle.
“I’m certain that plays in the heads also that next week AFCON starts,” he added.
“The players are a little bit afraid to get injured or whatever. But again I expected a little bit more from my team today, a better game but that can happen.
“I remember two years ago it was Lesotho in the last game we played, so that gives us hope.
Bafana face Angola non Monday in their opening match and Broos is convinced on the day his troops will rise to the occasion.
“I’m sure the boys will be ready for Angola,” he concluded.
