Former Orlando Pirates coach Augusto Palacios: Critics on Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster are unfair
Lyle Foster’s critics are unfair.
The Burnely striker deserves not to be at the receiving end of negativity like he is now.
This is the view of his former mentor Augusto Palacios who was central to the player’s development from his time at Orlando Pirates juniors.
Many football pundits in the country believed Foster should have been substituted against Angola in a match which the Burnley forward scored the winning goal.
"Sometimes people criticize and put the players' morale down. It is happening with Lyle Foster. When everyone played for the country last night, he contributed to the win," Palacios told the KickOff website.
“He never complained or answered negatively. It's important to support every player, scoring or not scoring, performing or not performing. Players are not doing stuff on purpose. All players try their best. It's very important to motivate everyone because the country is important. Well done, Lyle. Continue playing and representing South Africa."
