UEFA plans to organize a fireworks show on Friday, June 14, during the opening ceremony of the tournament at the Allianz Arena. However, as of now, the association and the authorities in Munich have not been able to agree on the use of pyrotechnics at this event. This information is reported by Bild.

It is reported that the local authorities in Munich are against it. According to the initial plans, the ceremony is expected to feature the launch of 60 fireworks during the presentation of the flags of the participating teams. Approval from the local authorities is required to conduct the pyrotechnic show.

When the plans became known, in January 2024, local authorities approached the organizers of EURO 2024 GmbH with a request to refrain from using pyrotechnics at the opening ceremony. EURO 2024 GmbH is a joint venture between the DFB and UEFA responsible for organizing the tournament.

Authorities emphasized that the use of pyrotechnics could send the wrong signal to fans and lead to unauthorized use of pyrotechnics, which could result in injuries.

UEFA assured that the final approval for the use of pyrotechnic devices is still pending.
