In the Norwegian biathlon team, a decision has been made to conduct a firearms handling course, as reported by Nordicmag.

This initiative follows an incident involving a rifle within the premises of the Norwegian team. Biathlete Sturla Løgreid inadvertently discharged a shot during dry-fire practice. Fortunately, no individuals were harmed as a result of the incident.

An independent body, the Biathlon Integrity Unit, conducted an investigation into the matter. Løgreid received a fine of 500 euros and a reprimand. Additionally, the Norwegian federation incurred a penalty of 2500 euros.

Due to this occurrence, the Norwegian team has opted to administer guidance on the proper handling of firearms.

It is noteworthy that the International Biathlon Union has indefinitely suspended former president Anders Besseberg from holding any positions within the organization. It has been reported that Besseberg, who led the IBU for 25 years, faced accusations from an independent external commission of the International Federation for aiding and protecting the interests of Russia, particularly in the context of anti-doping.

Furthermore, it is mentioned that he accepted bribes from representatives of the said country.
