Stunning news has emerged from Germany today as another football legend has announced his retirement from the national team.
The legendary goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has officially ended his international career.
Earlier reports indicated that the 38-year-old goalkeeper planned to continue playing for the German national team and retire after the 2026 World Cup.
Neuer made his debut for Germany in 2009 and has been the first-choice goalkeeper for the "Die Mannschaft" ever since, amassing a total of 124 caps and recording 21 clean sheets.
In 2014, Neuer became a World Cup champion.
His final match for Germany was the Euro 2024 quarterfinal, where Julian Nagelsmann's team suffered a 2-1 defeat to Spain in the dying minutes of extra time.
It is expected that Marc-André ter Stegen will become Germany's first-choice goalkeeper following Neuer's departure.
It should be noted that earlier, experienced midfielder İlkay Gündoğan also retired from the German national team.
