Teko Modise: The former Bafana Bafana midfield dynamo says Mohau NKota, Relebohile Mofokeng and Mbekezeli Mbokazi must rise to the Afcon occasion
Teko Modise has challenged to Relebohile Mofokeng, Mohau Nkota and Mbekezeli Mbokazi to shine for Bafana Bafana at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Modise, the boy of South African football ahead of the 2010 World Cup on home soil, says he is looking forward to watching the youngsters trusted by Hugo Broos to showcase their talent on the Afcon stage.
“I am just looking forward to what they can conjure this time around. Now that everyone knows them, everybody knows Bafana as one of the best teams, now can you be able to sustain that type of pressure and expectations? We are looking forward to seeing man,” Modise told the Carwash Podcast.
“Right now we are all excited, the pressure is on,” Modise said on the Carwash Podcast. “What type of footballer are you, if you don’t want to put yourself in these types of situations?”
Mofokeng, Nkota and Mbokazi are presently the rising stars in the country with Nkota and Mbokazi now based abroad while Mofokeng remains at Orlando Pirates.
Interestingly, Nkota and Mbokazi earned their moves while with the Sea Robbers.
The games against Angola, Zimbabwe and Egypt, who are in the same group as Bafana present the platform for the trio as those nations are standing between Bafana and a knockout stage place.
First up is Angola tomorrow night in the opening game which kicks off at 7pm to test these youngsters’ pedigree on the international stage.
