South African Political Party: Bafana Bafana coach comments are 'sexist and racist' and he must be investigated on the comments made
Hugo Broos is in hot water.
The Bafana Bafana coach has been to task by the United Democratic Movement, a political party which reported him to the South African Human Rights Commission.
The political organisation – released the statement on today – feels Broos made ‘racist and sexist’ remarks when he was addressing the Mbekezeli Mbokazi late coming fiasco in the Bafana camp.
“I will have a chat with him after training, and I can assure you, he’s a black guy and he will leave my room as a white guy,” said Broos during a media briefing.
Broos is reported to have referred to the Chicago Fire’s agent, Basia Michaels, as a “nice little woman who is his agent”.
The Bafana coach is highly critical of Mbokazi’s move from Orlando Pirates to MLS side Chicago Fire FC.
The UDM has requested the Human Rights Commission to:
1. Initiate an independent investigation into the alleged statements by Coach Hugo Broos.
2. Assess whether the comments amount to unfair discrimination, hate speech, or impairments of dignity as contemplated in PEPUDA and the Constitution.
3. Engage SAFA on its obligations relating to anti-racism, anti-sexism, and the safeguarding of individuals within national teams.
4. Issue appropriate recommendations to ensure accountability, corrective measures, and the prevention of recurrence.
5. Monitor compliance by SAFA with organisational codes of conduct and transformation charters where applicable.
